Reading Frenzy ~ An Independent Press Emporium

Words Worth Paying For? Panel Discussion, Tonight!

The folks of UO Portland will be holding a panel discussion tonight at 6pm concerning the bustling new world of electronic publishing.

Here's the word from Ooligan Press :

" A panel discussion with KATHERINE DUNN, author of Geek Love, DENNIS STOVALL, director of publishing and publisher of Ooligan Press at PSU, and VAILEY OEHLKE, director of Multnomah County Libraries.

Electronic book devices such as Amazon's Kindle and Sony E-reader are part of a new wave in digital publishing-one that's drawing attention in the media and creating an uncertain world for publishers, authors, journalists, librarians and booksellers. How do digital books change us as writers, publishers, and readers? A panel of writers, librarians, and scholars will discuss what it all means, and where we might be heading. We'll share conversation, food, and drink as part of a lively evening hosted by the UO Portland and partners in the White Stag Block.

MODERATED BY AL STAVITSKY, director of the George S. Turnbull Portland Center, University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communication "
