Crap Hound #5: Hands, Hearts & Eyes -- ALMOST SOLD OUT!
By Sean Tejaratchi
8.5x11, 88 pgs.
Between a brief introduction and the end credits, Crap Hound is pure
imagery. Each page is filled with high-contrast art, carefully taken
from vintage catalogs, advertising, obscure books, and found ephemera.
Through sheer volume of artfully arranged iconography, Issue No. 5
visually explores popular meaning, cultural ideals and historic
symbolism of Hands, Hearts and Eyes.
The first edition of Hands, Hearts and Eyes was printed in 1996, with 68
pages. The 2004 second edition added 8 pages of content. The 3rd
edition contains 12 more, bringing the total to 88 pages. Inside you'll
find 16 pages of eyes, 24 pages of hearts, 35 pages of hands, 3
copyright free typefaces, and 2 pages of random images!
PLEASE NOTE: We will be reprinting this issue in 2014 and it will retail for $12.95. If you need it now and/or if you're a collector and want the first printing of this particular revised reprint then go for it. Otherwise, wait a few months for the reprint.
Debuting in 1994, Crap
Hound became a favorite of both zine readers and publishers, and has
received enthusiastic reviews from sources including The New York Times
Magazine, RE/Search Books, the American Institute Graphic Arts, and the
Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum.
