March 18, 2008: From the IPRC:
Dear IPRC members and friends,
As you may know, the month of March marks the IPRC's tenth birthday! That's right -- we've been at the center of Portland's DIY awesomeness for over a decade now, so we have some great events lined up to help us celebrate. Stop by the IPRC and spread some birthday love with these upcoming events:
- Zine Art Show
Through May 30th
Don't forget the Zine Art Show showing through the end of May, featuring a decade of zines from the IPRC family (on view in our gallery/meeting/events room). Zines from Nicole, Greg, and Shawn are featured, plus other gems from long-term members and favorite IPRC zinesters.
- First Thursday: Birthday Cake Bake-off
Thurs, April 3, 2008, 6-9PM
Bake a cake for the IPRC's tenth birthday! Whip up your best ten-candle cake-creation and bring your appetite. Prizes will be awarded for best cakes in the following categories: Best Tasting, Most Creative, and Most IPRC Birthday Love. Bring cakes in by 6:30pm; judging begins at 7. Non-baking cake eaters are welcome.

March 13, 2008: It's hard to believe the Portland Zine Symposium is on it's way to becoming an institution -- I already felt like a wizened old zine peddler when they held the first one! Check it out here!
March 13, 2008: The IPRC spring catalog is out! It's chock-full of workshops as well as founder interviews with Rebecca Gilbert and your faithful proprietress! The IPRC turned 10 this year, so they have all sorts of special events and exhibits going on. If you've always meant to check it out, now is a good time!
March 13, 2008: Yes, that's right, they do! I'm sure librarians everywhere are cooler than average, but I'm pretty sure we have some of the coolest in Multnomah County. Thanks to the efforts of an an assortment of library staff who formed the Zine Library Group, several branches now feature zine collections that are catalogued and checkoutable! You can even recommend titles to them online! Find out more here.
March 08, 2008: Reading Frenzy favorite, Marjane Satrapi, is coming to Portland on April 7th! Ms. Satrapi is the author of Persepolis and the first graphic novelist to appear on the Literary Arts roster. Let's hope she's the first of many! We have a couple pairs of tickets to give away -- the details will be announced through our mailing list. Event details here.
